What do you have? Chilli Tamarind Popsicles by Picole Healthy Ice Pops!

I’m trying to recall the last time I tried a dish which I found, innovative, interesting, and at the same made me giddy. I believe, its been a while since that last time…until today. Interesting isn’t it? Chilli Tamarind Popsicles.

I found this today (17 Oct 2010 Sunday) at the Legazpi Park Sunday Market. While helping my friend Chiara sell for the Ritual stall (Ritual sells organic stuff… that’s for another blog post), I began to crave for something sweet. The 2 year old daughter, Luisa ,of Dagny from the neighboring stall just bought herself a watermelon (or was that strawberry?) popsicle and was happily eating away. It looked really delicious, especially considering the sweltering heat we were immersed in. I wanted some. Dagny suggested that I try the Chilli Tamarind Popsicle.

It was a darn good suggestion. I loved the tangy tamarind flavor (my favorites dishes are mostly tamarind based!), and I love chilli. The coldness of popsicle mixed with the spiciness of the chilli contrast but at the same time, go really well together.

If you’re a big fan of cold desserts and you’re little adventurous, this is an out-of-the-box treat you should try out.

———————

Where: Legazpi Sunday Market, Legazpi St, Legazpi Village, Makati City

When: I believe its on a Sunday. haha!

Stall: Look for “Picole Healthy Ice Pops”

Time: 6:30am-2pm.

(Thanks for reading friends. I hope you liked it. I’ll share more interesting discoveries with you as i go along.

Bang! The office shook. It was like thunder.. very strong thunder. We all looked up and wondered what that was. Outside the sky is bluer than blue and there is not a cloud in the sky.

We peer outside the window and see guards running towards Serendra. Something is up.

Judd rushes down with his camera. I follow shortly after and see people walking towards the direction of where the sound came from. There was an explosion.

Details:

12:00 noon, 15 December 2001 (today)

Serendra, right in front of Fullybooked

A car exploded while entering the Serendra carpark. There was a person inside who perished in the explosion. Can’t distinguish if its a man or woman. They should find out very soon.

(update) We now know that the car is an old Hondo Civic with plate number TNM 865. It belongs to Remegio Ang, one of the owners of a Serendra condo unit. This is according to Jorge Marco, head of corporate communications of Ayala Land.

Was the explosion a bomb? Was it an accident? Was it terrorism? I have no idea. It would be very scary to think it was a bomb. If it were an accident, that was one strong explosion for a mere accident.

No adjacent buildings were damaged but I heard someone got injured.

Please see the picture below (c/o my colleague Judd)

Guards rush to the scene with extinguishers.

There is a person inside.

Everyone seemed a bit scared and confused. Sales ladies stepped out of stores, restaurant patrons left their tables to see what caused the sound, cars were being rerouted, and there were sirens coming from different directions.

Scary points:

1) We walk by that area practically everyday to go to Market Market for lunch.

2) The car was entering the basement parking of Serendra. If it exploded inside the car park, the damage would’ve been bad. It would’ve caused a bigger explosion due to the proximity of nearby cars. Worse, it is located underneath condominiums.

3) It had to happen at lunch, when everyone goes out to eat. You have families that go to this area to dine.

(update) Here are some videos after the explosion

Do you remember what it was like being a kid in a candy store? Or if you had the chance to step into Toys ‘R Us when you were a kid, do you remember what it felt like? Two words : child-like wonder (was that three?). That “woooaah” moment with your mouth hanging open as you just stare in amazement.

That’s how it is for me when i see fireworks. I become eight years old again.

Last Saturday, 21 Nov 2009, was the first Saturday of the World Pyrolympics. And of course, this pyrotechnics fanatic didn’t allow herself to miss out!

For those who don’t know what the World Pyrolympics is, its where the world’s best pyrotechnics teams come together and compete by showcasing awesomely dazzling fireworks displays. If I’m right, this is the 4th World Pyrolympics but the first time for it to be “pyromusical”. Think colorful explosions in the sky synchronized with music.

And yes, this happened and is going to be happening for the next couple of Saturdays in Bonifacio Global City, PHILIPPINES. You don’t get this just anywhere folks.

Last Saturday, Germany and China took the stage. This Saturday, it’ll be Canada and Australia. 5 Dec will be Japan and Italy. For 12 December, it’ll be South Korea and US. The last Saturday, 19 Dec will be the fellowship of fire where the Philippines will be participating.

Here are the videos of the displays for Germany (courtesy of Vince of WhenInManila and Anton of Our Awesome Planet):

Germany (part 1)

Germany Part 2

The next one is part 2 of China’s display. When part 1 is posted by When In Manila, I’ll post it as well.

Between the two, I think China owned it! I wish you were there to see it. The video doesn’t do justice. Its just too bad that it rained during China’s set. I thin thats the reason why it became very smokey.

What do you think of the view from which the videos were taken? Best seats in the ENTIRE house ain’t it? That’s where I will be the coming Saturdays. Wooh! Ask me where. Maybe I’ll tell you.

By the way, general admission also has a GREAT GREAT view. Its only 200 pesos for a ticket. Its well worth it. My friend and I watched from the SVA (special viewing area) which is right in front of the launching point. The view was great as well.

I’m very excited to see what tricks in the bag the other countries have. I’m looking forward to Japan and Italy. I hear they are countries to watch out for. Italy won in the last World Pyrolypmics. Japan is very secretive about their fireworks shells. They refuse to see to foreigners. That’ll be a very interesting night. We’ll see.

.
